Sales Specialist

Red-D-Arc(a division of Airgas) is North America’s largest welder rental company. We presently operate a rental fleet of over 45,000 welding machines from 40+ locations in the USA and Canada. Our business includes rentals, leasing and used & new sales of welding equipment and related accessories.
Job Description
After a training program of 3 to 5 months will be responsible for the Sales of Specialized Welding Equipment in assigned regions by following sales leads, making presentations in a professional manner, preparing quotes, maintaining all required literature, providing customer follow-up. Assess customer needs and recommend solutions. Some overnight travel as well as excellent communication skills required.
Essential Duties
Develop and increase end user customer base by effective communication, assessment of needs and recommendation of all welding solutions with strong emphasis on specialized equipment.
Perform onsite equipment demonstrations.
Make application recommendations of specialized welding equipment.
Provide back-up coverage at the branch location during vacations and shortages.
Develop long-term supply relationships through contracts and/or agreements.
Provide customer follow-up
Work as part of a team in providing customer solutions.
Meet or exceed rental and sales goals specified in the market area.
Represent the company at trade association meetings, Trade Shows promoting it’s products
Compile list of prospective customers for sales leads based on information from newspapers, business directories, trade journals and other sources.
Maintain accurate and timely submission of sales call reports & expenses.
Minimum Qualifications
Sales experience in either an industrial equipment rental or a welding equipment sales or rental environment. Working knowledge of positioning equipment, welding applications and equipment is strongly desirable. Should have sales experience within the construction, fabrication, and manufacturing sectors.
Self-starter, self-motivated, sense of urgency, well organized, ability to achieve goals, ability to focus and pay attention to detail.
Have the ability to develop and execute market/business plans.
Must have excellent technical, oral and writing skills as well as strong interpersonal and management skills.
Proven ability to make sound business decisions
Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups in a business setting.
Good presentation and negotiating skills
Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
Computer experience using Windows ’97-2000 and Office ’97-2000 applications
Ability to travel and be away from home a large precentage of the time.
Clean driving record and at least 21 years of age.
Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
